About the Documentary: “Dùndún”

Directed by Ebiatawodi and produced by Fatogun Ifeoluwa, “Dùndún” is a deeply immersive exploration of culture, craftsmanship, and spirituality.

Dùndún, which means “sweet sound” in Yoruba, follows master craftsman Hassan Ayanyemi as he creates the iconic talking drum from scratch. Revered for its extraordinary ability to mimic the human voice, the dùndún is a centuries-old instrument deeply rooted in West African heritage and now present across the diaspora, from Brazil to Cuba.

Through Ayanyemi’s work passed down through a lineage of drum makers dating back to the 15th century, the documentary reveals a profound connection between nature and spirit. It explores how the drum transcends its physical form to become a bridge to the sacred, echoing the rhythms of life itself.

Semostev Media provided cinema drone aerial cinematography, capturing sweeping landscapes and visually grounding the narrative with high-end, cinematic precision.

This recognition highlights the power of collaboration and reinforces our commitment to delivering world-class drone filmmaking for impactful stories.
